Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition sometimes characterized by extremely dry itchy patches on the skin occurring anywhere on the body. The dryness could consist of inflamed rashes and blisters that oozes causing the skin to become infected further if left untreated. It is also know to medical world as Atopic Dermatitis. The major symptom is an extremely itchy sensation that invites constant scratching of skin to the point of bleeding. It saddens me to see my daughter wake up often every night to scratch. She and the family is deprived of sleep almost on a daily basis. My daughter is a very talkative little girl and when her eczema flareups she would cry, "make it stop! or Something is poking me...mommy...help!". I used to just applied hydro-cortisone 1% and Aquaphor or Eucerin cream and etc. that works on her but none really rid her of this disease or help with the itching very much.
For 2 years, I constantly educate myself on the subject of Eczema. My daughter was an exclusive breastfeed baby for 2 full years. Yet, she was still diagnosed with this disease at 5 months of age. It initially appeared on her cheeks and later the rest of her body. She was prescribed hydro-cortisone 1% since her diagnosed and at 2 years of age she can still fit into her 12-18 months clothes. She weighs 21 pounds which is 1pound higher than her 5 month old brother at the time of his 5 month old visit. It seems that even mild steroid
has taken its toll on her growth and development progress. I have tried many creams and lotions and higher strength hydro-cortisone allowed for children and nothing gives her great relief. So, I researched the web for other alternative approach and found that when combining both alternatives and conventional ways together the result was beyond expected. The primrose oil is a major key factor in reducing 90% of the time steroid usage and the itching symptoms dramatically. I was able to see my daughter become a child again for as long as the relief lasts.
